Day 1,2,3

Day 1

Students learned about Pythagorean Theorem.

It was the first time that I did not use this term.  Or, talk about a^2+b^2=c^2.  Instead we drew each square from the side lengths of the triangle.  We then determined that the larger one is made up of the two smaller ones.
I had students determine the relationship.  Then, we looked at different triangles with missing side lengths to determine them.  Students used white boards.
After, we went into the hall to and set up a triangle and calculated the hypotenuse using shoes.

Students completed class with an exit card asking them to find a side length.
I also played this link to help students visually see what was happening.

Day 2 and 3 :
We started Day 2 with a question from the day before on their whiteboards.  Students generally remembered the concepts.
Then I had them practice some applications using EQAO questions.
I started Day 3 with a Coach and be Coached Activity to help them remember what they need to remember.
